The fastest slow diesel

Up until about 2 weeks ago, I had been using 1/4" ID push-lok hose for my aux. oil cooler, and I had been dumping it into the HPOP res after cooling it.
2 weekends ago, I was "near" Caliente, NV going camping when I noticed that a pinhole leak had started right by the outlet port for the cooler lines. By the time I noticed it, I had dropped 2-2.5 gallons of oil. . luckily since it was right at the start of the hose, I was able to cut off the bad part & slide it back on, and I had some oil, so no harm, no foul. On the way home, I started smelling a very strong hot oil smell (I was still in the middle of nowhere). I stopped, got out & as I was walking to open the hood, I noticed I had about 1-2 gal of oil sitting on the ground under my motor . Stupid truck. Turns out the hose had slipped off of the fitting, so oil was being sprayed onto the top of the motor. For those not familiar with push-lok hose, it uses a special fitting that requires no clamps. Just push the hose onto the fitting (it takes some force to do) & it won't come off. Imagine my surprise when I was able to slide the hose off & on with no effort. Stupid hose. So I grabbed a hose clamp off of one of our quads & used that to hold it on, and we made it home.
But I obviously am not feeling a lot of love for the push-lok garbage now, so I upgraded to stainless steel braided line that is 1/2" ID, and instead of dumping the cooled oil into the HPOP res, I decided to put it back into the sump, via the oil filler neck. Here's a few pics:

Exiting the HPOP with a 120 degree bend:

Took it out for a test drive, and was pleased to see that 1) the lines stayed together & 2) temps dropped about 25 degrees.
So as long as this all stays together, I should be pretty happy with the truck. It pulled my toy hauler great, even after the oil leak started.

| Nice install Ben! I've always liked braided line and Aeroquip fittings. Seems like everyone is having nothing but truck problems lately,,,
