Well it was last weekend but here's what I did;

First I started with a Fabtech bumper from 4 wheel parts, I got it for $220 shipped to my door ( I think they were having a shipping promotion). I then welded an additional 3 tabs to the top of the bar,  (should you attempt this project as I have done, I suggest you make a jig for this step bolt all the tabs to the jig and then weld the tabs on.  it makes it SOOOO much easier to get them all lined up and in a symmetrical position.)

Now for the wiring, I used a simple 4 wire relay from PepBoys ($5) and ran all my wiring in 10ga. with the exception of the 12v. remote wire, that was 18ga. Used a 30Amp Mega fuse with break alert and some split loom wire shielding to keep the chaffing to a minimum.

I mounted a floor dimmer switch (anyone you would like, I used a early 70s Chevrolet truck switch) in the cab atop the carpet with one lead pulled off, making it a SPST switch.   I went this route because I hate to fumble for the light switch in the dark , and I really hate to drill  unneeded holes into my dash board!

Then I got all the wiring done out side the truck, I used standard butt connectors and made my own harness, making sure to solder all the connections that I could to minimize failure due to vibration and weather

And this is what I came up with, fits my needs,  I have two 100W bulbs on the outer sides and a 150W bulb in the center.  and enough candle power to cook  a hot dog.... anyone hungry?

thanks all, I had a foot switch in my other truck and it worked out great for those late night drives to northern Nv. I am just as fast with that as I am my regular dimmers switch, so I can roll with all the lights blazin and see the mountains on the side of the road (deer sightin) and whatever else there is to see out there, plus all that light sure cheers up a lonely and boring drive
