| i agree, i love cummins engines, but unfortuanatly i will never own one until ford puts it in a superduty. ive grown up with 7.3 diesels, they are very reliable, they just dont float my boat, its too hard to go remotely fast in a 7.3. also im aimeing for super low miles, its hard to find a 7.3 w/ under 100k miles, then im in the same boat im in now (my truck just rolled 100k miles thats why im getting rid of it.)

Define remotely fast. 10.86 @ 125 isn't fast? What about 11.12 @ 128?
I do agree, it'd nearly impossible to find something with less than 100k on the clock.
From what I have heard of the 6.4, it's a good stout engine. They are severely plugged up with all the emissions crap, but there are fixes for that, just make sure to get a 350 & register it with a high GVWR (ask Shane for details)Last edited on Thu Aug 14th, 2008 03:42 am by sandnut

You're right though in that the 7.3, while a good reliable motor (except for mine, I guess) can't really keep up with the newer technologies in the newer motors.
But as far as the 6.0 vs. 6.4, keep this in mind: HEUI vs. CR. You know which one is better.
If you want a Ford w/ a Cummins, you could always buy an F-550 or 650, LOL.

I'll drag race that 10 second honda all day long & beat it every time. We just hook a tow strap to each others frames & tell me how far you want me to drag it, LOL.
You can get a fast 7.3 for 60,000 or so. Plus the cost of the truck.

So we go from talking about track times to truck pull?
Good luck running over some ricers if you could catch them? There is some bad ass turbo hondas in this town.

I have been driving an 08 for the past year as my work truck. I like the motor much better than my 6.0, mileage is better (of course it's stock and not on 37's), has only been in the shop once for a recall. The 08 has a rough life, gets beat on and abused weekly (exe. ran it at the speed limiter 97mph for an hour last week on a 90 mile road trip. She just keeps on truckin and doesn't miss a beat. My 6.0 has had plenty of issues over the past 7 months. Fuel pump, EGR (twice) EGR cooler leak, rear pinion seal (twice), rear gears had to be replaced, front axle seal, ECIM not to mention the drive train problems I still have. It's very rare for me to drive my 6.0 more than a month without it being in the shop for week. If I didn't have so much $$$ wrapped up in my 6.0 not to mention the love/hate relationship we've developed, I'd get an 08 350, DPF delete, 250 HP tune and never look back.
